FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

DAN WEIDMANN NAMED PRESIDENT OF NARI FOR 2008Exterior Remodel

The National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI)
chooses Weidmann to lead in ‘08

ATLANTA, Ga.—Members of the Atlanta Chapter of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI) have selected Dan Weidmann CR, CAPS, co-owner and president of Weidmann & Associates Inc. to be the organization’s 2008 president. NARI is a non-profit trade group dedicated to certifying building contractors and setting standards of excellence for the remodeling industry.

“I am thrilled and honored to be selected for this role. As the 2008 president of NARI, my mission will be to assure homeowners that all NARI remodeling contractors uphold a higher code of ethics,” Weidmann said.

Weidmann, who joined his brother Bill at Weidmann & Associates 13 years ago, has served as a NARI officer for the past two years. This past fall, NARI members selected Weidmann to take the leadership role for the organization. Weidmann & Associates was also named NARI’s “Contractor of the Year” for the Residential Exterior Specialty category by the Atlanta chapter.

In 1998, Weidmann & Associates was named one of Remodeling Magazine’s “Big 50.”  The Big 50 is a national hall-of–fame award for outstanding achievers in the remodeling industry.

Since joining the company in 1995, Dan helped grow the small family business into Kitchen Remodelone of the hottest remodeling firms in the area.  Today, Weidmann is recognized by the Atlanta Business Chronicle as the second largest in Atlanta; with 19 full-time employees and a loyal following of repeat customers and referrals.

As an expert in the remodeling field, Weidmann predicts the most popular remodeling trends for 2008 will continue to include more expansive kitchens, master bathrooms and projects that open up the home to give it a better flow.

“Many of our customers are in homes that are typically 20 to 30 years old.  They love the neighborhood and want to update the spaces they have and turn it into more of their dream home.  In the 1970s and ‘80s, architects divided rooms into separate areas like formal dining rooms, living rooms, kitchens, family rooms, etc.  Today’s consumer wants a more open feel to the home, which can be accomplished by raising ceilings or knocking walls down and creating extra light by expanding windows. This creates a better flow and an updated look.

“I believe outdoor areas will also be a popular request in ’08, as we’ve seen a surge of interest in outdoor kitchens, fireplaces and poolside or deck entertaining. Last year’s remodeling projects included incorporating flat screen TV’s into everyday spaces,” said Weidmann.

An attorney and aeronautical engineer, Weidmann spent six years with the U.S Air Force as a project engineer for weapon systems testing before attending law school.  After a short time in practice, he transitioned to a career in remodeling, which he absolutely loves.  “It’s challenging, but we set goals and strive to meet or exceed the client’s expectations.  The typical outcome is an extremely happy homeowner and that’s a wonderful feeling,” he explains.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

ATLANTA, GA – The hottest design trend in today’s upscale homes takes the concept of luxury entertaining to the great outdoors. The days of flipping burgers on a charcoal grill and sitting on plastic chairs are over. “The grill and patio styles of yesteryear are morphing into full-fledged rooms with amenities such as covered porches, gourmet grill appliances, kitchens, light fixtures, outdoor fireplaces, cushioned furniture and even flat-screen televisions,” says Donna Davis, host of Home and Style, a nationally syndicated television show that recently taped a segment with Atlanta remodeling contractor, Weidmann & Associates, Inc.

Dan Weidmann, co-owner and President of Weidmann, will discuss his NARI award winning outdoor makeover on Ms. Davis’s show. The changes to the property include: a covered breezeway, three-car-garage, covered deck porch with stone fireplace; and gourmet grill/outdoor kitchen, outdoor entertaining area and new doors to access the exterior space from the newly remodeled kitchen and den. These stunningly beautiful additions are showcased in the Buckhead home of Ken and Elizabeth Richards.

Home and Style is a magazine-style TV program that covers topics related to interior design, remodeling and fashion. Entertaining outdoors has long been popular among Atlantans and there is a great deal of interest in the Richard’s project because it received an award for Best Exterior Specialty by the Atlanta Chapter of the National Association for the Remodeling Industry. Affluent consumers often want aspects of their gourmet kitchens expanded to include the outside. The Richard’s home is a perfect example of this hot new design trend in outdoor entertaining.

“I selected Weidmann to feature on Home and Style because we were looking for a home that exemplified the glamour of what can be done with the right contractor in exclusive neighborhoods. The Richards’s home makeover is not limited to the exterior; it also includes a remodeled professional kitchen, family room, breakfast room, laundry room, mudroom and powder room addition. The Richards’ selected Weidman because they had been delighted with the work the company had done on their luxury master suite and marble and granite bathroom five years ago.

“Our audience is very interested in the latest trends and design elements and Weidmann has an excellent reputation in Atlanta,” says the show’s host, Donna Davis. For more information on Weidmann & Associates, please visit weidmannremodeling.com.

The episode that features Dan Weidmann of Weidmann & Associates will air Saturday, March 15th at 11:30 a.m. on WATC and again Sunday, March 16th at 4:00 p.m. on the Comcast cable channel. Weidmann & Associates founder Bill Weidmann has over 28 years experience in home construction management. After a stint as the VP of Operations for one-time industry giant U.S. Home, he decided to strike out on his own, starting Weidmann & Associates in 1989.

Through hard work, determination, and an uncompromising commitment to client satisfaction, the brothers collectively developed the company into one of the area's most respected contractors.

COMPANY BACKGROUNDER

Living Room Remodeling
Founded in 1989, Weidmann and Associates, Inc. is a residential remodeling company that specializes in design/build projects ranging from $50,000 to over $1 million. As one of the largest remodeling companies in the Atlanta area, Weidmann is the local authority on remodeling and design, from a single room to a total home renovation. Their philosophy is founded on an unwavering commitment to customer satisfaction, which is why 90% of their business comes from referrals and repeat clients. Weidmann believes that its reputation is the company's best advertisement.

How Weidmann Works
Weidmann works with high quality materials and employs expert craftsman. They assign a project manager to every job, from the master bathroom remodel to the entire home renovation. Weidmann avoids the pitfalls and disappointments customers often experience when dealing with less experienced remodelers, because they plan, design and work with clients during every phase of the project. While realizing that price is important, they make design/build recommendations that are professional and comprehensive. If starting from scratch, the Weidmann team can create home additions and updates that represent fine architecture, while maintaining the aesthetic of their clients' original homes. Weidmann is known for their expert craftsmanship and their ability to balance its client's needs for constructability, and cost versus value. Weidmann helps its customers visualize the end product before the home's remodeling transformation begins. Complete designs are drawn and refiaddition remodelned, and full details of the project are determined and written out, along with a complete work schedule. Once this is completed and a fixed price contract is approved, the work begins.

Customer-Driven
With this systemized approach, clients have a comprehensive idea of what their newly remodeled home will look like as well as a scheduled timeline of the construction process, before the first nail is pounded. The key to Weidmann's success has been their focus on having the client involved and informed at every phase of a remodeling project. Because the majority of remodeling is done with the homeowner residing in their home, Weidmann tries to minimize the impact of the project on the homeowner while making sure all phases of the construction meet or exceed the company's own high standards. Weidmann provides clients with regular updates itemizing details of the work that has been completed as well as upcoming milestones.

The Remodeling Industry and You
While the turbulent new housing market has some consumers wondering about the overall effect on the residential remodeling industry, living room remodelWeidmann's recent experience offers some perspective. While news reports indicate construction in 2007 experienced a decline, Weidmann continues to grow as people continue to have an interest in improving the home they reside in, rather than simply improving a home just to sell it. According to Dan Weidmann, president of Weidmann and Associates, and president of the Atlanta Chapter of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry, "Overall, customers are more tentative when making their remodeling choices, but ultimately, clients are generally interested updating their current home for their personal enjoyment. Our primary customers are living in the home, in a neighborhood they love and simply want a more updated look and feel." Weidmann says that kitchens and master bathroom remodeling continue to be b, and they've had an increase in requests for improving and extending outdoor entertaining and living areas. "I believe 2008 will see a continuation of these trends," says Weidmann. Weidmann and Associates, Inc. averages 25-30 remodeling projects a year and has completed nearly 500 projects since opening their doors in 1989.

Trends in Kitchenskitchen remodel
kitchen remodelThe kitchen is viewed as the hub of household activities; hosting everything from everyday cooking and eating to casual parties and formal entertaining. Kitchen renovation in Atlanta continues as the #1 remodeling request. One of the reasons that kitchen remodeling is b is that most kitchens become outdated every fifteen years. As the consumer becomes more aware of the latest trends, their dissatisfaction with their current kitchen drives the renovation industry. But what are the trends to watch for in 2008 and beyond?

One of the more recent trends in creating an updated kitchen is to combine the kitchen with an adjacent family room or formal dining room. Often in older homes, the wall separating the kitchen and this other room is completely removed creating a more open space centered by a kitchen island or peninsula. Furniture-style cabinetry (maple, cherry and wood in deep rich brown tones), as well as marble, granite, natural stone or limestone countertops continue to be popular as are the high-end appliances (refrigerators, ovens and ranges). Some take kitchen remodeling to another level by incorporating the look of heirloom quality furniture such as glazed, distressed and antique finishes to their cabinets to add a more formal look.

bathroom remodelBathroom Updates
People want master bathrooms to be their inner sanctum; relaxing, beautiful and spa-like. Rather than being merely functional, a master bath can be a haven and an escape from a busy and hectic day. The good news is that remodeling a master bathroom is "one of the top three most cost-effective home renovations today," according to RealEstate.com. Today's upscale homes are seeing more and more of the following trends in the master bath suites:

Bathrooms are getting bigger; many customers are creating extra space by knocking down walls, opening up ceilings and adding windows. For the shower, new showers often take cues from the spa world by recreating a sauna shower, with steam and dual shower heads, seats, top-of-the-line fittings, full-body-wash shower walls, tile, or stone block enclosures and glass door fixtures. Tubs range from soaking tubs and Jacuzzis, to retro-footed antique bathtubs with modern fixtures and functionality. Floor materials can also update a bathroom. New floor materials such as specially treated, water resistant hardwood flooring are on the rise, while ceramic tile and stone continue to be strong. To create a romantic mood, recessed lighting options are added and furniture style cabinetry can complete the look. For sinks, many clients opt for under mount sinks, but colored glass bowls, antique-looking ceramic bowls and stainless steel bowls have been wildly popular lately. Vanity styles range from antique designs to the ultra contemporary. Materials on the vanities typically include stone tops, granite and marble, while polished nickel is a popular choice for faucets and fixtures. Today's modern bathroom amenities can turn an ordinary bathroom into an extraordinary retreat without leaving the comforts of home.

The Great Outdoors
Perhaps the hottest design trend in today's upscale homes is to take the concept of luxury entertaining to the great outdoors. The grill and patio styles of yesteryear are morphing into full-fledged rooms with amenities such as covered porches, gourmet grill appliances, kitchens, light outdoor remodelfixtures, outdoor fireplaces, cushioned furniture and even flat-screen televisions. Affluent consumers often want aspects of their gourmet kitchens expanded to include the outside. One can also increase their home's entertaining area by introducing a patio or deck rather than adding an entire room. Many of these elements were incorporated into a recently completed Weidmann project, which received the Contractor of the Year award from The Atlanta Chapter of the National Association of the Remodeling Industry in the Residential Exterior Specialty category.
