Expanding Outdoor Living
Outdoor rooms are built for relaxing, entertaining and the creation of spaces which express a theme possibly not seen inside the home. Outdoor living areas sometimes give us the feel of a far-away resort or a private getaway that enables us to unravel from the day-to-day stresses. Weidmann is stepping out with outdoor living spaces & lifestyles perfectly fit for your home. In the project displayed here, the clients enjoyed spending time on the home’s original small rear porch. However, they had a vision for a larger space to share with guests. Further discussion revealed that this was just part of a grand plan for the back of the house, including an area for traditional grilling, as well as firing up a Big Green Egg. Long term, they also hoped to do some landscaping to create a more usable yard with an area for playground equipment. Landscape Architect To ensure that the remodeling project fit in with the clients’ overall goal for the home, the design was not limited to the project at hand. Instead, we enlisted the assistance of a landscape architect to help with an all encompassing plan for the backyard. With an understanding of both the immediate goal for an expanded porch and patio, as well as the future plans for the yard, he came up with a few different concepts. With some refinements, the clients soon had the plan that achieved everything they desired. Backyard Escape With the general layout of the porch, patio and yard defined, the focus shifted to the finishes and features. While the porch expansion needed to blend with the existing home, the clients gravitated towards exposed beams, stacked stone and partial walls for privacy. In combination, they have a space that is uniquely their own and will serve them well for many years. |
