Creating space from thin air from the homeowners viewpoint.
A luxury bath is a sanctuary from the world and often a retreat to another world.
It is very much a personal space that echos your inner most pleasures.
The Weidmann team visualizes the space, presents multiple options to achieve the homeowner’s dream and brings an infectious creative energy to the overall project. My home always had good bones, but from the time I bought it, I knew I wanted to make updates. The first area Weidmann Remodeling AfterI wanted to tackle was a seating area, off the master suite – a place where I could read a good book and admire items from my travels. This space was created by enclosing the two story foyer. A Solar Tube – a less expensive alternative to the traditional skylight – was introduced here to make sure there was always plenty of natural light streaming into the area. From this location, an elaborate hand-carved door hints at a special room beyond and beckons you to come closer. What awaits is a master suite beyond compare.
Weidmann Remodeling Moroccan Bath RemodelIn the master bedroom and bath, Weidmann rearranged the space to provide me with a more functional and luxurious retreat. The original bath was cramped and overwhelmed by closets. The new floorplan converted previously unused attic space off the bedroom into a walk-in closet; freeing up square footage in the bathroom area to create a fantastic flowing layout for my new sanctuary. Since water is a primary element in the Moroccan bath, my shower and tub are now the focal points for the room. The tile patterns integrated beautifully with the selected watery teal and blue color pallet, and tied the whole room together with the deep chocolate stained custom cabinets. For added interest at the shower, arches were created with tile; repeated in a niche on the facing bathroom wall. We had considered including a fireplace, but instead, I use the niche to display my collection of candle sticks to introduce an element of fire into the design.
Weidmann Remodeling, where Moroccan meets French Country. To pull this Moroccan theme together, I worked closely with the Weidmann design team. With their assistance, the right combination of faux finishing – including a Champagne Gold treatment on the foyer ceiling, which allowed light and color to bounce all around the space – fabric and color selections completed the new remodel. Other treatments in the bedroom and bath added to the feel in these areas as well.
repositioned to greet you as you ascend the main staircase, it provides quite an impact. Oversized door hardware from Rocky Mountain Doors complete the look.
CLOSET DOORS – Pocket doors, etched with a jali design, have replaced the original double swing doors. Embellished with ornate handles, they coordinate perfectly with the overall theme.
MOROCCAN TILES – Clearly, the visual impact of the bathroom is driven by the tile work. Although it took a bit longer than expected to obtain the material, since it was ordered direct from the European manufacturer, it was worth the wait. While the large tiles I envisioned for the space would have overpowered the room, with some ingenuity of the designer and tile guys (the true experts here), combining the tiles with accents and border tile, not only saved on materials and reduced cost, but created an all-around less overwhelming environment.
SOAKER TUB – The designer and I spent a significant amount of time selecting the right fixtures for the bath. For the tub, an ultra-relaxing soaker by BainUltra was chosen from European Sink. It is a bathing wonder, with an air jet bath that creates an effervescent activity of water. The bath is therapeutic, improving relaxation, health and well-being Weidmann Remodeling Lift Systemwith water and aroma therapy. Better yet, it is self-cleaning!
The most ingenious use of space on this project was the installation of a functioning lift system. Although almost completely hidden from view when not in use, it provides an easy way to move items from the foyer on the first floor to the attic above the second level. This is such a godsend for lifting suitcases and holiday decor out of the way – and all with the push of a button.
Overall, the Weidmann team was just a pleasure to work with on this project. It was amazing to see what they came up with, how they worked out the challenges of the job, and how thoughtful they were as they implemented the transformation. I was so comfortable with them in my home that once all plans had been approved and materials ordered, I was off on another excursion, leaving the team on their own. During my absence, they kept me up to date via chats and photos of the project in process. They even went as far as to do a complete clean of my home, reinstall all the master furniture, and have my comforter dry cleaned before putting it back on my bed, so that I could sleep in my own bed when I had returned from my long trip. I could not have asked for anything more!
