During National Military Appreciation Month (NMAM) Weidmann Remodeling – Renovation is proud to celebrate patriotism and to have the ability to honor those who have served and continue to bravely serve our country.
We have two veterans within our team, Dan Weidmann, who served in the Air Force as a guided weapons test engineer and separated as a Captain, and LTC Kris Marshall who is currently stationed in OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAAfghanistan. Lieutenant Colonel Kris Marshall deployed in November of 2013 and is serving as the Director of Public Works for Task Force Volunteer at Camp Phoenix, Afghanistan. Camp Phoenix is the operational and logistical hub for operations throughout the capitol city of Kabul.
Full page photoAs the lead engineer for the task force, Kris and his team are responsible for the base maintenance, camp expansion, and ultimately the base closure efforts as the Afghan National Security Forces assume the mission and the U.S. Soldiers return home. Task Force Volunteer consists of our neighbors across all areas of Georgia who belong to the 48th Infantry Brigade Combat Team. The Soldiers of Task Force Volunteer are tasked with the command and control of troops operating throughout Kabul with the focus on providing a safe and secure environment for the historical presidential elections as the Afghan Marshall, Stanley, Womanpeople decide their next president and vice president. Upon return to Georgia in the fall, Kris will assume command of the 177th Brigade Engineer Battalion and continue his service within the Georgia Army National Guard.
This is Kris’s second deployment. The first was in 2003 when we were mobilized for the kick-off of the Iraq war (Operation Iraqi Freedom). At that time Kris served as a Company Commander within the 221st Military Intelligence Battalion. After a few months in Kuwait & Iraq, his company was remissioned to Afghanistan where he served throughout Afghanistan and Uzbekistan. Other deployments throughout his career have included Korea, Uganda, Rwanda, and Malaysia.
Kris, Jennie, MaddieKris is married to Jennie Marshall and they have two children, Maddie and Austin. We want to thank Kris for his service and recognize Jennie and the kids for their support of Kris as well as the military! When Kris returns to the States he will also return to the Weidmann Remodeling Team.
